Job Description: 

Work Location: The Construction Project Manager will need to be in the field office or on-site 100% of the time with occasional trips to a corporate office. On-site work area is from Grand Rapids, Minnesota to Becker, Minnesota.

Corporate Office Location: Maple Grove, Minnesota

Summary:
The Construction Project Manager will be responsible for construction management including constructability review and planning, adherence to safe working practices and safe operations of the facilities, reporting project progress to project manager and applicable teams. Also responsible for reviewing, and communicating field results, ensuring compliance standards and contractor adherence to plans and specifications, quality assurance, maintaining the construction schedule and mitigating impacts, controlling contractor/construction costs to budget, coordination, and general oversight of contractors on high-voltage transmission line and substation projects. The Construction Project Manager will collaborate with project managers in project development, crafting project execution plans, formulating construction contracting strategies, and assisting in contractor selection.

A typical starting range for this position is $135,000 - $160,000 annually. Responsibilities: Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to
· Manage construction project/s safely ensuring optimal performance resulting in successful results.
· Manage and coordinate contractors and subcontractors engaged in providing construction services.
· Supervise on-site construction activities, ensuring adherence to design specifications and safety protocols.
· Assist in the timely development and negotiations to secure project construction contracts and construction agreements to procure labor, equipment, and materials.
· Communicate with stakeholders, regularly, by providing project construction updates, construction reports to ensure project members, leaders and contractors are all well informed.
· Monitor construction performance as related to financial budgets and forecasts, track and approve construction contractor or subcontractor changes.
· Advise and make recommendations to the project manager and provide direction, as appropriate, to contractors regarding labor, environmental, safety, quality control and emergency recovery matters.
· Oversee construction project safety, risk and compliance to ensure a safe and compliant work environment.
· Construction project manager will be on-site and is expected to know the progress, control quality and safety aspects of the work and materials.
· Work with the safety representative to ensure safe working practices are established and followed by all construction resources and any people on-site during construction.
· Work with the project manager to secure and the manage to construction contractors.
· Prepare requests for qualification and requests for proposals for contractors or assist in the preparation and gather requests for information and bids from contractors; prepare bid analyses; and make recommendations to the project manager with respect to the award or rejection of any bid.
· Knowledge of high-voltage transmission systems and construction and contractor management of electrical transmission facilities.
· Knowledge of safety requirements, industry governances, codes, and other standards that apply to the construction and maintenance of electrical transmission facilities.
· Knowledge of engineering design documentation and ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, materials, contracts, and other related documentation.
 

Requirements: 

Knowledge acquired through a bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management or a related field AND at least 6 years of experience in the high-voltage electrical utility industry OR a two-year technical degree in engineering, civil technology, or related field AND at least 10 years of experience in the high-voltage electrical utility industry.

5+ years of experience in a construction leadership position/s such as construction manager, superintendent, or related required.

Experience, application, and adherence of National Electric Safety Codes requirements and regulations and OSHA certification preferred.

Proven leadership skills and the ability to manage projects and coordinate construction teams.

Expanded breadth of knowledge in the assigned area of responsibility is required through continued training, education or/and participation in seminars, conferences, meetings, etc. to be able to apply commercially accepted best practices in construction management.
