Program Description

Playing a role is something we all do, whether we are aware of it or not. Think about how differently you act when you are in mom mode, or work mode, or on date night. Those are all roles we have been assigned or assigned ourselves- and we play them every day. It’s the same as being a professional actor- except actors are on a stage, or in front of a camera or microphone. Some roles you get to prepare for, do research, rehearse. Others rely on improv, like being a parent each day. In both instances, there are tricks and methods that actors use to play their roles convincingly.

How many times have you been in a situation that is new to you and you had to navigate your way through it with just the information that is accessible in the moment? Leading a meeting, starting a project, health issues? These simple actor tips and tricks can be used in your work life, as well as your personal life. Being a strong leader in the workplace is a matter of figuring out what that role means to you, and expanding on that by filling in the details. Let’s play with some of these tricks and prepare you for your time in the spotlight, playing YOUR role of a lifetime!

When an actor prepares for a role, they have to do a certain amount of preparation. But, there is also an element of ā€œfake it ’til you make itā€ to the process. The same can be said for tackling any new situation. From a new job title to a life transition, there are actor tricks that can be used to make it easier to embrace the change, and make it work.
