Program Description

St Cloud State University (SCSU) has embarked on an effort to improve their Information Technology Systems (ITS) department’s ability to manage projects throughout the product life cycle, providing optimum value to the University Like many institutions today, ITS has been challenged with doing more with less, while improving transparency to the campus stakeholders.  To accomplish this SCSU set-out on a 12 month effort to define and establish it’s Project Management Office (PMO): charter, policy, process, procedure and artifact - creation, execution and control.

This presentation will discuss the strategy, as well as the tactical reality of the project as it has unfolded from beginning through the first intake cycle and the kick-off of projects – and the lessons learned along the way.

Speaker(s) Bios

Jodi Wroblewski is a PM at St. Cloud State University’s IT Systems (ITS) Department, having served in that capacity for over 3 years.  Prior to that she was PM for an ERP Software company in St. Cloud. She’s held posts in management, as a technician, and in accounting. Jodi has presented to various audiences within the MnSCU system on project management basics, as well as to the College of St. Benedict / St. John’s University on strategic planning.

Joe Perzel has been leading projects of all sizes and managing staffs since 1982 in both a corporate and vendor capacity.  A sought after speaker on a variety of PM topics, Joe has a background in multiple industries including healthcare, insurance, finance, government, non-profit, K12 and higher education, audit and compliance, manufacturing and agri-business.  Presently Joe is Partner at Midwest Staffing as well as Program Manager at Surescripts.  He has held leadership positions at Thomson Reuters, MN Workers Compensation Insurers Agency, Cargill and International Multifoods.
