Program Description: 

The presentation focuses on the attributes that executives find most valuable in a project manager in the areas of technical project management, leadership, and strategic and business management skills. The presentation looks at the various attributes and factors that are critical for a project manager to be successful in those areas. The presentation is based on recent scholarly research, PMBOK along with personal anecdotes. Audience members will participate in a quick questionnaire assessment of their skills that will give immediate feedback on their strengths and competency gaps. The presentation concludes with methods on how to fill in those gaps.

Speaker(s) Bios: 

Bill Johnson, PMP, MSPM is Program Director for the Masters of Science in Project Management and Information  Technology Management  departments at St. Mary’s University of MN, where he also serves as an Assistant Professor and Teaching Fellow .  He is also CEO of Value Based Project Management firm that provides consulting, training and professional services that focus on helping the client achieve their mission and goals. Bill has been recognized by the PMI College of Performance Management with the Gaylord E. (Gary) Christle Award in 2008, one of eight international awards given by PMI to rising stars. Bill has over 15 years of project management experience in the education, government, and nonprofit areas with budgets of over $8 million.
