Program Description: 

This educational session will address five project management objectives that tie into the actions needed to implement clinical telehealth/telemedicine programs. The pre-analysis elements for business planning including reimbursement guidelines, determining site eligibility and the ROI will be presented. Additional objectives include compliance factors, timelines and 50 implementation steps involved. Work Flow Maps and rapid cycle tools will be presented with template examples. Future areas of telehealth growth will be projected.

Maureen Ideker RN BSN MBA, System Director of Telehealth, Essentia Health

Maureen Ideker RN BSN MBA is one of MN and the Midwest's pioneers in telehealth. She started her work in Telemedicine in 1994 while the Director of Nurses at Tri-County Hospital in Wadena, MN. She worked with many state and federal grants, such as those awarded from the Office for the Advancement of Telehealth (OAT) with the University of MN and from the USDA-Distance Learning and Telemedicine. She also chaired the Greater MN Telehealth and Broadband Initiative from 2007-2015, which brought $5.4 million into MN under the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Universal Services (USAC) project providing discounted broadband for healthcare facilities. 

Since 2011 she has served as the System Director of Telehealth for Essentia Health-Duluth, MN. Maureen has been instrumental in developing over 30 rural originating Telehealth sites across MN, WI and ND at hospitals, clinics and long term care facilities and more than 30 specialty outreach services across Essentia Health. She is actively involved with public policy related to gaining broader Telehealth insurance coverage and provided testimony to influence the 2015 Telemedicine Laws in ND and MN. 

Maureen was named the Rural Health Hero in 2015 by the MN Rural Health Association due to her longtime commitment to rural health initiatives. She assists MN's e-health efforts by her participation on the following boards: MN Commissioner of Health's e-Health Advisory Committee, Governor Mark Dayton's Broadband Task Force and has also represented MN on the Great Plains Telehealth Resource and Assistance Center Advisory Committee (gpTRAC) since its inception and is an independent consultant for gpTRAC.
