Program Description: 

Setting up project schedule and tracking project cost are considered “hard” skills for a project manager (PM.) As project managers are accountable for the project outcome but generally have no authority over the resources, people skills, or the “soft” skills, are necessary to be transparent and to build relationship in order to influence team performance, solicit resources from functional managers, and gain project approvals and support from senior leadership. In a panel discussion format, this meeting will present a soft skill discussion that are necessary but easier said than done in a healthcare project management environment, that can help to sustain your PM career.

Glenn Gregersen has been working in the health care sector since 1994. Glenn is currently the Program Leader of the Allina Health Information System Project Management Office (ISPMO). 
Glenn started his journey by getting a degrees in Acute Care Paramedic from Northwest Technical College and achieved Certification from the National Registry of EMTs. Upon his completion of Acute Care Paramedic course work Glenn worked as Critacare Paramedic and Site Coordinator for North Memorial Medical Transportation. Glenn continued his healthcare education by completing course work in Respiratory Technology and became licensed by the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP). Glenn worked for Riverwood Healthcare, Aitkin Minnesota as a RCP in several clinical and leadership roles. 
Glenn returned to college and earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business and a Master’s Degree in IT Leadership; both from the College of St. Scholastica. It was in 2002 that Glenn transitioned from direct patient care to managing an IT department and leading IT Projects at Riverwood. In 2010 Glenn became the IT Manager at District One Hospital in Faribault, Minnesota. Glenn was promoted to Director of IT at District One Hospital in 2012. Glenn led numerous projects while at District One; including: Updating the datacenter and all network hardware (DOH CEO says they did 10 years of work in 3 years); RFP to replace DOH Medical Record System and all related modules/components; and was instrumental with DOH becoming acquired by Allina Health.

As a prominent member within the local Business Analyst community, she is deeply involved with the creation of and training in BA methodologies and best practices. She has served on the Board of Directors for the local Chapter of International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA), including as President. Currently Alba serves on the Senior Advisory Committee to the President of the International IIBA organization, as well as a member of the Advisory Council in College of Continuing Education, University of Minnesota, for BA & PM Course Development.
